Closed Project

Post by Taruto! » Mon Jun 27, 2005 6:52 am

Sorry, but this never really got anywhere. The planning was lost and I personally lost major interest in this, as well as having a crappy connection and being unable to upload the song segments.
Sorry to all those interested, and sorry to all those who were wanting to participate.

Hey ^_^ this is my first attempt at making a multi-editor project & songfile, please excuse any major errors ;)

I've been wanting to do a full album megamix for a while so I twiddled around with Ocean Avenue, one of the albums (probably the most successful) of Yellowcard's. I'm pretty impressed with the result and I think it's got a wide range of themes that are perfect for a multi-editor project.

Download:
MP3 (128kbps) Mix - approx. 16mb

The songs used are in order from the album and are as follows (track length in the mix is in brackets, availability is in squared brackets):

---
1: Way Away (approx. 1:15) [taken by Niotex]
Anime: The Soultaker

2: Breathing (approx. 1:37) [taken by Sonydjsnmix]
Anime: Kodomo no Omocha

3: Ocean Avenue (approx. 1:34) [taken by AtomX]
Live-Action: Run Lola Run

4: Empty Apartment (approx. 1:17) [FREE]

5: Life of a Salesman (approx. 1:11) [taken by OtakuForLife]
Anime: Neon Genesis Evangelion

6: Only One (approx. 1:11) [taken by dcdeveloperx]
Anime: Scryed

7: Miles Apart (approx. 1:09) [FREE]

8: Twentythree (approx. 1:22) [FREE]

9: View From Heaven (approx. 1:21) [FREE]

10: Inside Out (approx. 1:18) [FREE]

11: Believe (approx. 1:12) [taken by SQ]
Non-anime: Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron

12: One Year, Six Months (approx. 1:00) [FREE]

13: Back Home (approx. 1:40) [taken by Taruto Chan]
Anime: (most likely) RahXephon

TOTAL SONG LENGTH: 17:04
---

A lot of the tracks are longer or shorter than the rest which mightn't seem fair, but otherwise the mix sounded strange and cut off at strange times - and a little variety is always appreciated, surely?

There's a short tracking sound inbetween each segment to give a sense of going forward. It's not too distracting and creators would be given freedom to do whatever they want with the short second noise.

I was personally going to take Only One as well as Back Home, but I guess it wouldn't really be fair for me to have 2 tracks if this ever gets off the ground. :D
I need the last track to include credits and such anyway, as well as my segment to the video XD

Ideally I'd like the video resolution to be 480x320, so please try to make your segments at the same resolution. The sound quality will be taken from the WAV formatted remix.

However, there's a few short things I don't want in this project if it works out:

No Thanks:
- Dragonball (any series)
- No re-using series that are already being used in other segments (unless they are used in a multiple series segment)
- No more than 3 series in one segment (there may be exceptions)
- Subtitles/fansubbed footage (even if the subtitles are cut off)
- Low-quality footage/sound quality in your finished segment
- Any format except .MPG or .AVI (conversions from .wmv etc are fine)

Otherwise everything should be fine. :D

Would anyone be seriously interested in this? If so, please post with whichever track you'd like and whichever anime you'd be using! ^_^

I'm interested in track 11 (Believe), but I want to hear the mix first. :)

Added the link to an mp3 of the mix to the first post! :)

It's pretty simple and it doesn't really have any extra music in the background (apart from here and there, but it's not really noticeable) since the music itself sounded fine without any emphasis, and cross-fading tracks sounded stupid after past experiments with making mixes.
I did try to make it so each track didn't sound exactly the same from one to the next, so any feedback on the mix itself is appreciated! :D *sweatdrop*

I'll probably type up the lyrics for each bit pretty soon incase anyone wants them. ;)

Thank you ^^

I honestly don't know about a deadline right now, I guess it depends as to how quickly people choose whichever parts they want :D
But the deadline will probably be a few months after all the spaces are taken, tops. Most likely about 2 months or so.

Oh, and all .wav segments should be uploaded tomorrow, if anyone wants to start work on their segment early. :)
