Close but no cigar: the ideas which didn't QUITE work.

I scrapped my Cowboy Bebop movie with Man in the Box by Alice in Chains not too long ago. I made it and it looked good while i did it, but when i saw the whole thing, all I could say was "WTF?". It was deleted soon after.

Well, the number of unworkable ideas I've had is simply too many to count, so I'll just make a generalization.

Usually, when an idea for me doesn't work, it's simply because the footage does not exist. This is usually due to the fact that most of my ideas revolve around side characters in anime (anyone who remembers my challenge thread can vouch for this).

I suppose, if I had to give some of the the ideas I've given up on, these would have to be the main ones:

Fruits Basket - Everclear - "Wonderful" - in general, this song is ideal for the cursed zodiac members. Unfortunately, some of the lyrics are just too specific, such as "a Star Wars poster on my bedroom door" - what am I supposed to do with that??? So, for that and several other lines in the song, I scrapped this idea.

X TV, Tokyo Babylon - Silent Hill 4: The Room - "Room of Angel" - I absolutely adore this song and consider it to be one of the best game themes I've ever heard. I wanted to use it for a Subaru/Seishirou video. However, the song is very long, and even if I cut it down - there is a good point at which I could cleanly do it - it would still be too long in comparison to the amount of appropriate footage there is. I tried doing this idea once, but I couldn't come up with anything past the first verse and chorus.

Angel Sanctuary - Evanescence - "Anywhere" - a great Setsuna/Sara video, but it has the same problem as the "Room of Angel" idea. There just isn't enough footage for the song. I always considered trying this one anyway, but I don't think it would work.

Final Fantasy VI - K's Choice - "Everything For Free" - I wanted this to be a Terra profile. Therefore, anyone who knows FFVI should know why this video is impossible. What is there - twenty seconds of Terra footage? If that? Oh well. Another idea down the drain...

I guess those are the really unworkable ones, and really just because of a lack of footage. Most of my other ideas would be tight on scenes but still possible. Of course, half of them will never happen anyway due to a lack of motivation on my part...

Haibane Renmei with "Let love lead the way" by the Spice Girls... I got awesome video footages working for perhaps the first 3rd of the video but I don't know if I just ran out of steam or if the rest of the song genuinely cannot be made to work, whichever the case, it ended up being scrapped by those reasons and by me reformating and losing connection with the project file links (as in I still had the project file but when I entered it again in my video editor, the clips I picked were all screwed to all hell).

I had another idea a little while back but it would have meant making an H-AMV and i wasn't to keen on the subject (scat scenes to Orange Range's "City boy"... listen to it... it will make sence).

I've tossed around the idea of using Trigun with Johnny Cash's "A Boy Named Sue", but I don't think my technical experience is good enough to pull it off successfully. I'd like to see someone else do it, though

I dunno, I've seen a few AMVs to Enya music that worked rather well. (Mostly Studio Ghibli footage, though there were two using Inuyasha that worked rather well. I especially liked the one using the song 'Return to Innocense.' Now I wish I could remember the name of the video. ~.~; )

Anyway, I'm still very new to this AMV thing. I've only completed one video! I have lots of ideas, though. I really want to do something with the song "Shine" from Hellsing. Just one problem. I only have one anime DVD, and it's for .Hack//Dusk! What I'd really like to use is Spirited Away, I'm just not sure how to get clips that'll fit with the lyrics and beat.

I have yet to actually scrap an idea. My problem is figuring out how to make the ideas reality.
