Issues with Vegas Video...

Post by thefontbandit » Tue Aug 09, 2005 4:52 pm

For some reason, my copy of Vegas video is doing something really odd... whenever I try to drag and drop a video clip into the editor, only the audio drops in. I have a video track set up for it, but it is as if the program doesn't recognize the audio format. It has been doing this for various clips from different series, so it's not the actual clip itself. Does anyone have any suggestions?

By the way, it just recently started doing this. It was working fine up until a couple of weeks ago.

Sorry, in the above post I meant to say "doesn't recognize the video format.

Well, i that case the answer is easy. If you work with fansubs, buy the dvds, this increases the quality dramitically, if you compare it too DivX footage converted to something workable.
If you use dvd footage, then convert it to HuffYuv with VDub and import that

Well, I'm actually just working with Premiere in the meantime. I have ways to work around this, but I'm really trying to figure out what it is within the program that caused this, since it's so random and sudden. Blegh.

Another note in case it's important, the version I'm running is Vegas 4.0.

Also, I am running on a dinosaur of a computer with little current financial resources, so I lack much of the advanced technology that is often considered standard, so please keep that in mind... =(

maybe your Video is with Xvid codeks
Vegas can't open Xvid codeks
there are a lot of ways to change the codek one of them is with virtual dub
the other is with FourCChanger
Not sure but if you ask me vegas works only with DivX codeks

That happened to me at one point, even had my premiere messed up too. I just screwed around with codecs and got both of them to work somehow. That's not too good of an idea though.
