Steamboy

Post by older_gohan » Fri Aug 26, 2005 12:27 am

Who here has seen steamboy? I personally enjoyed the movie. What bothered me was that I'm the first to make a music video devoted to that movie. But all in all it was a great movie with stunning video. A real treat for the otaku.

From where I heard the US release was 15 minutes shorter.
I saw the original Japanese release. It was.. so-so.

The first half hour was ok, I liked the railway chase but after that it got very dragging. And then the climax was too damn long. They could shorten the plot a lot.

The plot was well and the animation was great. At certain times it did drag but the fihgt scenes were well thought out. All in all I liked it just because how well they displayed the time and age.

i bought it w/o seening it cuz of the director and his previous credits...and i was not let down. i enjoyed it cuz of plot as well as animation. a bonus for me was the 3d elements which i know are in a lot of anime nowadays but i studied 3D in college and i subscribe to the UK mag, 3DWorld, and i was forewarned on how inovative this film was therefore i knew i would enjoy it.
thats my opinion. :)

I got bored within 5 minutes of the movie so I skimmed through the whole movie and didn't find anything that would interest me, so I just cut it off. I'll probably trade it in soon

My overall opinion for everyone is that if you enjoy a good well thought out plot with great animation. If your looking for something that is nonstop killing from end to end this is not a anime for you. This is not like a dbz show it's more like a metropolis type anime.

I thought it was good, but the second half hour wasn't really that great. It kind of switched back and forth between interesting and boring.
