Wow! that FLCAL video is pretty good! In this case I'd prefer not having seen FLCL as the story was just so clear! Much like my video, but unlike my video it had a good mixture of fun mixed in, I like it -_- Sorry to the next poster, I'm a non-con goer (a party pooper -_-) and I couldn't tell ya... but if that 9/11 vid is Pwolf's ole vid then I'd agree... otherwise I've not seen it or I'd probably agree lol.
Yeah, I do find it slightly irritating that year old videos like that (or Scintilla's WakaLaka.... I mean, HASN'T IT WON ENOUGH???) are set to compete in this my first AWA, I had no idea -_-. But at least if you won you'd be able to say 'My video is one of the best this entire year!'

Well, on a different site with an AMV section talking about AWA:
I don't understand why people just don't get one award and then stop. For my award-winning videos(four, LOL) once I win something, I stop submitting them. If a video has more than one award(unless it was from the same con) then I'm just a little miffed. Isn't one for that video good enough?
But meh, going on a tangent.
Meri: Yes that's the video. Thanks! ^_^
Why in the world would anyone submit every video you made that year? I mean, it's only four videos which isn't a lot, but other people get the same idea and then you have all these videos by the same people and it gets really frustrating.Cyanna wrote:I'm not going. But Scintilla submitted a video into Pro and we sent everything else we made in the past year to Expo (4 videos total I think...one from me, one collab and 2 from him unless I'm forgetting one).

...because we can? There is no trolling rule. There is a pretty high limit on how many videos you can submit. We pretty much sent everything we made worth sending last year as well and there were no complaints. You could have done it too if you wanted to. No one would stop you.AWA Expo Rules wrote:You may submit as many videos as you can fit on one standard T-120 VHS (or S-VHS) video tape. If you are submitting digitally, you may submit up to two hours of material.
If we operated under seperate studio names, this probably wouldn't sound like a big deal at all.
1 from Studio A
2 from Studio B
and one from Studios A and B.
We understand that due to time constraints, there is the possibility that we have to choose whichever one we want to have shown the most. If a single party actually submits 2 hours worth of videos then I assume that it is more likely that they will have to pick and choose which ones they want to have shown.
I understand that. Scintilla understands it as well. If we had to pick and choose (or have them picked for us), we'd be more than happy to comply.
But we didn't come close to submitting 2 hours worth. We didn't have to pick and choose which one our preference was. And so there were 4 videos in Expo among the both of us.

yeah lol, but ya can't really fault them, it IS called 'expo' and not really a competition in my eyes (or something), but at least not alot of these geriatrics won. I just didn't really catch onto the expo part until I saw the 200+ entrants lol... did they even have time to show them all?? What I'm saying is I guess if you want a smaller feild go with the bigs and do Masters or Pro
Say, on that note, does anybody offhand remember my Now And Then video, Discord and Doom?? (I trust it was put together right. lol) Might something like that be Masters worthy?? or is there any finalists in masters or is it all entrants are shown as long as they conform to the rules... I thought it was rather like Sierra Lorna's Wolf's Rain vid (or is that Pro... isn't that contest gone from next year??), bottom line I plan to make another one like that NATHAT vid next year so I wanna know if I need to vastly improve to be viewable. I mean, it should be assumed that I want to improve some, but... N I don't necissarily want to win (apparently o.0) I just want to be good enough -_-.

Because it is called a MUSIC VIDEO EXPOSITION. The whole point of this is to showcase the videos that you have completed over the past year since last year's convention. Otherwise we wouldn't have much to show during the weekend in the VAT room.SQ wrote:Well, on a different site with an AMV section talking about AWA:Why in the world would anyone submit every video you made that year? I send to contests around the country so that people all over can get a chance to see my work. All I care about is final cut, and any awards I win are strictly a bonus. (Especially since there's hardly any monetary value of any prizes attached with any awards, in general.) I entered four videos in Expo... one of them one a judge's award at 2 cons, and one of them won Best Action at a convention, yet none of the videos I sent in won anything in Expo. Was I upset? Not at all. I just wanted to have my videos shown to various congoers this weekend.I don't understand why people just don't get one award and then stop. Different contests run differently, and I try to respect the rules of each contest. If there's a no-trolling rule, I wouldn't send a video that had already won awards to that contest.

Oddly enough, I believe Scintilla's Waka Laka video has won exactly 1 award so far: Best Upbeat at Otakon '05.Knowname wrote:Yeah, I do find it slightly irritating that year old videos like that (or Scintilla's WakaLaka.... I mean, HASN'T IT WON ENOUGH???)

It also won Best Comedy/Parody at Animethon... But then again there are several videos in Expo that won something and as it called the "Expo" contest, I think that fine..Brakus wrote:Oddly enough, I believe Scintilla's Waka Laka video has won exactly 1 award so far: Best Upbeat at Otakon '05.Knowname wrote:Yeah, I do find it slightly irritating that year old videos like that (or Scintilla's WakaLaka.... *shrugs* I usually submit everything that hasn't won anything that I've completed since the previous AWA- which this year was just 2 videos (Individuality and Everything About Guu). I consider AWA the start and end of my equivalent of the 'fiscal year' since it's not entirely too far off from when I both got started in AMVs 9 years ago and back into them again 3 years ago.SQ wrote: Why in the world would anyone submit every video you made that year?
It is intended to be an Exposition- I'd imagine if there was room for it and the interest that they could have a room for nothing but the full contest showings in addition to the room for the panels and bigger stuff and just run nothing but the videos submitted. You can submit up to 2 hours of anything you want, so if everyone wanted to we could easily fill the whole weekend with nothing but Expo and Pro (no more Masters- was thinking about this earlier and wondering if this was going to bump the level of Pro up that much more now that people wonn't gunning for Masters) entries. I don't submit videos that have won to it because it is still a competition though. If it was a true expo with no competing I'd likely submit everything from the past year.
