Ability to edit/delete posts xx.

Post by CheesecakeOtaku » Wed Oct 05, 2005 5:04 pm

Hi I'm new around here but I've already made two mistakes with my posts and I know I should have been more careful but I figured that havint these enabled would be fairly useful ^^

This is a great idea for this forum. Proof reading isn't always going to happen.

it's been suggested 1000 times.. the answer is always no and will coninue to be no until such time that an answer with a more negative denotation can be found.

Deleting isn't allowed in any forums.

Not true.
I have been to 1 or 2 that allow deleting of posts.

but I still think that an edit post button would be useful.
You can tell people to proofread their posts as much as you want, but some mistakes will still be made, and some people will disregard proofreading.

Perhaps there should be an edit post button and had a field to enter a reason for editing. You can discuss amongst yourselves how to do it/what reasons are allowed for editing.

There will never be a perfect system, but in my opinion the pros outweigh the cons. If I am entitled to such a privelage I will start up a poll about this.

Tough luck, then.

You could always just hit the Preview button.

ACTUALLY, here's an idea. How about a phpBB mod that forces people to preview their post before submission?

That'd more clearly shift the problem from "proof reading isn't always going to happen" to "dumbfucks who can't be arsed to read over their own writing twice". Both are clearly user error, but one sounds better.

Yes? No?

Then you are correct.
And that phpBB mod sounds like a good idea. People will still skip over it, but it is another way to curb mistakes.

Just fix it with a second post. If you don't do it all the time, it's alright (if just a bit embarassing). It's when you constanly double post that's a problem.
