Anyone out there interested in going to this lecture? Just figure it's something many of us would be interested in.

Nope, not at all. It's just going to be another "Piracy is wrong in every way, even if its free advertising, and anyone who does it should get 25 to life" speech from someone with a teaching degree.

And besides, I get enough lecturing from my parents.

A few people i know (and a few of their friends) were thinking of stacking the place with a pro-fansub audience... but everyone's so busy/lazy to attend...

I'd go if it wasn't all the way on the other side of the country.

The actual title of the lecture is "Anime Fans and the Copyright Wars: What Should Japan's Content Industries Do about Online Piracy?"

And if it's coming from Harvard, I'd be inclined to say they'll take an even-handed approach to the subject, ie. accept that fansubbing will happen, and rather than just chastise the audience (which may or may not be fansub patrons or even anime fans), find ways for Japan to deal with the problem other than hamfisted RIAA-style sue-everything-with-a-computer tactics.
