Anime South???

Post by Scandia » Sun Oct 30, 2005 11:37 am

Anyone have any details as to whether there will be an AMV contest at Anime South? It has been discussed on their boards, but I do not see any materialization of it.

And REMARKABLY, any time someone mentions that it's about time they get in gear and post some rules....they all jump on your case about not rushing them. Dudes. 10 days to the Con. Not much time left.

They posted a Prelimenary Schedule of Events today and it appears that they've sanctioned a block of time from Friday night-Saturday morning for AMV's, but I believe this is probably just a show event.

All I can say is, after all this time of hearing "yes there will be an AMV contest", I'll be very disappointed if there isn't.

Unless they're taking FTP or at-the-door submissions, I don't think they'll be having an AMV contest period. There's been way too much time lost.

Exactly my thoughts. BTW, 'sup Rach! XD XD XD XD

I guess I just wanted a chance to enter at a first-time con, seeing as how I'm too petrified-as-all-hell to enter any big-time cons.

Hey man don't be petrified to enter bigger cons. Even if your video doesn't make the finals the overflow rooms do draw a good crowd in there and your video still gets shown. For most cons at least.

Other than my brains coming out my nose, not a whole lot XD

Don't be scared of big-time cons. Honestly. The advantage with big-timers is that even if you don't make it as a finalist, your AMV is still played in an overflow block, which gets you lots of exposure. Which means people are more likely to race to the Org on Monday and download (and if they're uber-nice, they'll leave feedback. Oh yes, feedback is WONDERFUL! DO IT MORE OFTEN, PEOPLE!).
