slow pc, why?
my friend has a 1gb ram, 3ghz pc, but it still runs slow as hell. Did complete reformat but no help. WOW took 5+hrs to install. Was wondering if problem indicates broken ram or cpu. sorry for bad grammer, i'm typing this on my PSP.

I can't really help you, but I know that those who can help you will need to know more.
Is the memory SDRAM, DDR, or DDR2? And what brand, if you know? Some motherboards can be specific.
What processor is it? Not just asking if it's Intel or AMD, but also the model name and number?
Are you running a high-end video card? Some of those will "share" processor speed with your CPU, effectively reducing your computer's speed.
What OS is it running? If Windows XP, is it the Home or Professional edition, and does it have Service Pack 2?

The computer is using standard DDR ram running at 400Mhz. It's an Intel processor and he's using a crappy 64MB ATI video card. He's running Windows XP Home and it's service pack 1a, because we just reformated his hard drive and reinstalled the OS. If it helps to know, it's an MDG computer It ran perfectly before, but now whenever you do anything like right click on something and try to see it's properties, it takes like a whole minute to load the properties window, even when there is nothing else running in the background. Another thing that we have noticed is that when you load up a program complety, it runs smoothly once it's all loaded, but it takes super long to load even when its a low ram program like Notepad. Hope this gives a bit more depth to the nature of the problem.
