Death Note

It means if you just write a name, the person will die in 40 seconds from a heart attack. But if you write a cause of death before 40 seconds, you will be given 6mins:40secs to write an entire elaborate plan to kill someone.

So if I write....

George Walker Bush. (he would die in 40 seconds)

But if I write....

George Walker Bush. Choked to death. (I would have 6:40 to write the specific details of the cause of death)
Choked on a bagel on November 30th, 2006 at 7:03AM
(then he should die exactly two weeks from today (Mountain Time)

That's how the Death Note works.

after you write the cause of death you have 6mins and 40secs to write how they die/when they die =/ if u don't write cause of death they will die in 40 seconds, so if you did write the cause and no detail specifying time of death they would die in 6mins 40seconds instead of the 40seconds where as you just wrote their name.

OK... Lemme make this thread serious.

I have just gotten through with Volume #8. It seems clear to me (and please PM me if I'm wrong, and I think everybody would agree with me)

that ever since Misa has been given the eyes of her death god, Light seem to give her attention, while also giving her the cold shoulder when it's time to get serious.

davis: most people here are here to follow the anime, manga discussion does not seem to be necessary. most people here have either read all the manga, and are now following the series, or are just following the anime.

it seems things will get confusing if people don't know whether the spoilers are from anime or manga, or WHERE in the manga, etc.... -_-
