You're forgetting something: most of the intended audience will never have heard of VP# and will not appreciate having to go out and download another codec just to see HaruFreaks's video.

(You could say the same about x264, true, but at least x264 is compliant with the MPEG-4 AVC standard, which will only become more and more widespread as HD content spreads.)

WRONG! ^_^

Once again, I repeat, On2 VP6 or VP7. It even supports alpha transparent video streams. Only downside is that it kinda limits yer choices on audio codecs, pretty much stuck with teh craptastic MP3 codec (there are FAR better alternatives). Actually though, it ~might~ be possible to produce non-standard FLVs using other audio codecs...but then they won't be so Flash friendly.
Ok, but there are no guides here on how to encode with that codec. I assume HaruFreaks is asking so he/she can encode an AMV, and that is not a standard codec around here by any means.

*bangs head on keyboard*

You guys are SERIOUSLY out of date. I mean, hello, what the shit do you think is all the fuck over YouTube?

...well, actually they might be using crappy Sorenson, but still, it's the same container.

The point with FLVs is that their instantly web friendly via a Flash player and because of the proliferation and expansion of YouTube they even work in most all stand alone video players. What's more, you can embed the video directly WITH a custom player if you want. It's the form that I'm using for most of my sites:
http://www.backwater-productions.net/in ... ?loc=video

http://www.backwater-productions.net/care-bears/
(look in the video sections)

http://www.backwater-productions.net/hatter-blog/
(look at one of last months entries)

Both those later two sites aren't setup with Flash site indexing yet, so I can't do direct links to stuff like I can with Backwater.

...what? What are you kidding? What the shit do you think is all the fuck on YouTube?! o_O

Are you telling me that NO ONE has made a guide for encoding FLV yet?!

...oy vey...*sigh*...well maybe I'll whip something up tomorrow when I got some time.

Wheee_It's_Me!,

Such a guide would be much appreciated and very useful. I'm sure that the intelligent encoders among us would love the help in being brought into the 21st century. After all, quite a few of us are obsessed with good video quality.

As a reminder, if you wish to submit your guide for inclusion with the rest of the Org's hosted guides, you can find the instructions at the top of the guides page.

Thanks again and have fun!! ^_^

Scintilla.

Would it be out of line for me to say "Oh crap" at this point?

Anyways, since HaruFreaks seems to have ignored my previous post, I should clarify that the two links do answer your question in more than one way. "Best", however, is still a subjective term more than usually.

Honestly, I choose to use AAC audio with h264 video in an MP4 container. That seems to be the current best compromise, and what HaruFreaks should use.

I was joking about cinepak only because a cursory look around the forums, or the org in general, would have yielded answers.
