Portfolio system

I came up with this idea a while ago but never really shared it. But recent events have made me believe that this might not even be such a bad idea. I'll go ahead and explain a little bit about what exactly happened.

I recently enrolled into a private college in our capitol (Amsterdam), thanks to some nifty tech stuff I put together. My screen name was in my directory url as well as some of the tech stuff. The school did a back up check off of that and they quickly found they're way here. So what it basically came down to at first was "Good luck on your VCA's" and the class after that "I saw your XXX Fuck it up video, wasn't my cup of tea must have bin fun no?". Which both kinda scared me, as those were not the products I would have liked to shown them. Enspecialy not Fuck it up of course...

So here is my proposal:
On give the option as to let a member select his top 3/5/8/10 video's he/she wants to display on his/her main profile, kind of like a personalized portfolio. Where as the other video's will be under a separate list. Wich one will have to open by clicking on the "view all" button.

This would solve other problems as well such as people who want their first video's deleted cause they think they are shit. These people could now then hide them away from the main profile page and under the "view all" button.

Feedback appreciated of course.

Great idea. It could also help people who just want to promote a certain video on their profile page. I, at least, sometimes click random users and browse the first few vids on their profiles.

I agree. I only have a few videos I would like people to view but they all go to my crappy DBZ ones and don't bother with my good ones.

Or you could just mention that "the vids get better as the list goes down" or list your favorites in your profile like I did...

I don't like my first vid, but I don't want it removed from my profile. Or you could on the first vid info page "This vid is shit, don't watch it" they'll read something that short.

But hey, even though I don't like some of my earlier stuff, some people do and if they find them on my profile, good for them. I find a lot of people's early vids that I personally like by profile browsing. It would eliminate a lot of finding which is what I thought this site was all about.

I don't like the idea of hiding away videos. If it's only a klick away then they are not really hidden and it's just extra hassle.

Something like a "I recommend to view these"-list, just above the full video list, would be very nice.

I often look at an users profile, see a song I like or interests me and give that video a chance. That would be amiss when only a few selected videos were visible.

If someone does not want people to watch their very first amvs they should just make the download unavailable.

Which isn't an option considering your not allowed to delete video's based on those grounds.

So if I understand this right, It'll just be a list of your AMV's that you want to be noticed more, then the regular list below it?
