I'm pretty sure AMVapp killed my WMM.

For help and discussion concerning the Windows Movie Maker software.

did you check the codec of the video are you trying to open? or did you check how many files inside of your wmm added there?

That usually cause of another problem to window movie maker :?

also can you list it here what codec do you have before you installed the amvapp?

if youre using DIVX/XVID encoded clips/source files then that can cause WMM to crash in the first place... try using virutaldub mod to reincode them to huffyuv, and only cut out small parts, because huffyuv makes large files

right click on the file, go to "properties" and choose the summery tab... it should tell you there what the video compression of your source files are

I'm pretty sure WMM is jsut hating my .avi files.

I put some .wmv files in there and it didn't error.

it sounds like what Scintilla said, and that FFDShow is screwing it all up...
did you uncheck all the codecs you have supported already... be sure to uncheck XVID DIVX and any codec that looks like it says MPG4 in the title

and as i said before, you could try to convert to huffyuv (but it makes huge files)

I will say you must get the MPEG4 if you have DivX/Xvid this file mostly now if you get anime on the other site they use mp4 or ogg files so get those codec for sure you can edit it on your wmm.... :/
