Maybe he has a mac.

Also, i used downloaded footage for my video and ended up without subtitles. The video was terrible quality tho. I ripped dvds for my second vid, and plan on doin that for all future vids.

Another simple method to get rid of subtitles is to crop the scenes being used. I thank the guides for teaching me to do that.
Probably too busy to be here right now.

i dont. i frameserve indices of the dvds straight to virtualdub and produce divx (bait)/huffyuv (switch) avis.

if you're unable to afford dvds, there are cheaper, even free alternatives to getting dvds, such as renting from video stores or online video websites, borrowing from the library, or leeching off friends.

I don't rip them. But I don't download the footage either.

I capture it the good old fashioned analog way.

Let me think, it took 2 weeks (about 102 hrs) to rip and clean the footage for my current project from over 200 dvds. Trying to download that footage on dial-up would take months. Finding high quality copies of the episodes would take another month (before I can even start downloading). Finding copies for the lesser known anime would take even longer. Then there's clean-up. It takes a few days to clean up the footage when I rip from dvds since some anime are old and fuzzy and others have funky encoding. I shudder to imagine the quality on compressed versions of those already poor sources - easily a day per source since each one will have different problems to clean up.

Yeah, I use dvds. And for my PS games, I actually use the game discs. Why? Because it's time-effective and gets better results.

hahahahahah!!!!! ROTFL....wow.....just....wow....

I always rip the DVD's be either buying them or borrowing them. Unless it is not available in the US. I'm doing a Peach Girl vid right now with downloaded footage because it has not been liscenced here in the states yet. When it is, I'm sooo buying it.
