Airfare between most major airports in the US is up about 340% over last year, and they'd charge you an extra fee for wearing both shoes on the airplane if they could.

That being said, if you take a puddle jumper to BWI, the price is still about the same for whatever rediculous reason.
Don't put it past them. They'd implement a new "shoe-bomb detection" fee because the x-ray machines they have now just aren't good enough.

I was pricing southwest for DC to Ohio and it'd be about to same to drive. I didn't dare look at United, though I use them all the time. I rarely actually fill up my gas tank (I don't venture far), but I'd imagine it cracking $65-$70 to fill it and I would certainly need to refill to get to Ohio and back by car because it's pretty sucky on fuel economy. This is all hypothetical of course because I couldn't realistically drive the thing longer than a couple hours :P .

A little tiring and probably more dangerous than flying, but much more affordable, even with the ridiculous gas prices.
Yeah, I wasn't taking that into account.

LOL, you haven't lived until you've driven across half of the east coast of the continental U.S. in a car full of otaku from the middle of nowhere. Like some kind of weird clown car, we pile out at every rest stop and marvel at the snack machines that take credit cards. "Look at this glorious technology! Finally, I can pay 22% on a Snickers!®" :P

The first time I saw a vending machine that took a credit card, I fell over laughing. The most amusing thing is that I know people use it since they don't believe in actually carrying money. And I'll bet good money that the credit card guys love the service charges that they get to apply to that stupidity.

I've endured family road trips of about 8-9 hours, so I've "lived" plenty (though I'm sure my trip to Japan next year will trump everything in terms of my sanity with uber long travel times).

You Otaku have to get it together though! You above anyone should know whatever new snack machine tech upgrades we get are already a thing of the past over there in that tiny country we all know and love.

So, how were the comedy entries this year? Were there more as compared to last year's? Hopefully a bunch of good ones.

I'd like to see someone adapt one of those Jimmy Kimmel songs to an amv.

A trip to Japan would be a bit too much, for me. I'm sure it would be cool, but then again, I'd probably spend all my money in a single day. Stuff I'd never use, probably. "Japanese Playstation games that'll never work on mine at home? Ten versions of the Final Fantasy Advent Children cereal boxes? AND Hello Kitty KY Jelly? Charge it!"

Plus, I'm kinda more interested in seeing Germany first. That would be real something.

Howdy all, whats up?

Got my confirmation E-mail. ^-6
Unfortunately I can't attend this year, but I'd really like to go some time. :(

You should go! I went last year and believe me, Germany is awesome! Make sure you go to as many castles as you can, (I.E. Neuschwanstein, Heidelberg (my favorite!), and Burghausen) they are the main attraction! And the cities around the castles are just beautiful. My favorite city would have to be Neunburg, because the whole city is surrounded by great walls (and the castle of the city being on top of the hill is a nice touch ^-6).

Oh oh, I guess I'm getting ahead of myself! Good luck to everyone, and hope we get good results!

Yeah, comedy is probably my favorite category.

I think Jimmy Kimmel and can only think of the "I'm f***ing Matt Damon/Ben Affleck" songs.:P Someone'll do it if they haven't already.

Yeah, I actually had to post-pone my Japan trip because I couldn't pony up all of the dough in time for THIS year *shakes fist at school loan bills* I'm kinda inpatient about the Japan thing so next year couldn't get here soon enough as far as I'm concerned.

I would like to go to Germany, but I'm interested in one of those multi-country European vacations. I'd like to see so much over there. :)
