Okay, so this isn't actually new... it's about 20 days old. But I'm new at this, and I never noticed this forum. No wonder I haven't gotten a single opinion yet. ...not that this guarantees it either, but it's worth a shot.

VIDEO GAME: Final Fantasy X
SONG: Against the Grain
ARTIST: Earthsuit
FILE SIZE: 31.7 MB
I feel that Final Fantasy X and Earthsuit have something in common. I'm not sure what, exactly, but I think it has something to do with a common reggae, watery... something-or-other. Whatever.
If nothing else, this particular Earthsuit song -- "Against the Grain" -- really fits FFX. Barring a few necessarily incongruous references to modern culture (Nixon, Jesus, etc.), the song's theme of "freedom from religion" (as vocalist/songwriter Paul Meany put it) totally suits FFX, where the characters seek out the truth about Yevon (the God of FFX's world) behind all the false, human-imposed traditions. The religious leaders in FFX blindly prioritize their traditions over basic human rights.
...yeah.
After ripping and converting the FMVs, this video took about 2 weeks to make.
But oh my goodness, the ripping and converting was a PAIN IN THE PROVERBIAL BUTT! Quite possibly even the literal butt! ...well, no. But anyway, I found some obscure Japanese program on the internet called FFX2MOV, which ripped the files from the DVD to .M2V files, which freak out in Adobe Premiere. I had to use TMPGENC to convert them into a usable .AVI form, which in itself was extremely tricky. In fact, I'm still not quite sure exactly how I finally got it work.
This is my second AMV. My first was the Cowboy Bebop Movie video for Queens of the Stone Age's "Song for the Deaf". It's certainly different working with CGI source material.
For one thing, lip-syncing is a lot harder. But I did manage to do 2 of them here, and I think they're quite nice. The first one isn't anything to write home about, and it's not really supposed to be, but look for the "Let us make God in our own image"... I think I managed to do it pretty well. And I'm glad I did, because I wanted to emphasize how Seymour's the one saying that.
Also, in general, CGI when it's slowed down looks even worse than anime when it's slowed down, but it looks a lot better sped up than anime when it's sped up. That can be useful.
I did a lot more digital effects in this video, and I think they work pretty well. Lots of overlayed stuff. Also, there's some really quick editing, so those with epilepsy may want to skip this one I kinda made some stuff subliminal.
...not that I'm using mind-control or anything... *cough*BUYEARTHSUIT'SALBUMS*cough* ...hmm, doesn't work quite so well in text, huh...
There really aren't any spoilers in this one. If there are, it's only at the same level that a movie trailer would spoil a movie. It's all stuff you've probably seen in promo material for FFX anyway.
Actually, if you go frame-by-frame through a certain part of the video, there's one thing that's kind of a spoiler. But you have to think about it. And if you let it go by without pausing it, you won't get a chance to do that, will you?
