- Finally time and money to start watching anime! 2002-03-25 09:21:23 Phew, finally. I got the Macross Plus dvd's last week. It has a real nice concept of AI taking over. Great music too! Today I got Golgo 13 and Perfect Blue. I heard a lot of Perfect Blue so that one's covered, but Golgo 13; never heard of it. I just read the back of the dvd cover and it sounded cool. I haven't seen many anime yet, because here in The Netherlands anime is hard to get. And when you finally manage to find a store that sells anime, you can count the titles on 2 hands. And don't get me started on the costs... Ain't it just sad?

Internet Service Providers Suck

I have made a beautiful AMV sharing website and I was planning on using my own machine as a server. Everything was going so good; my friends got onto the site often, but then I started to get complaints from you people in USA and other places far from where I live (The Netherlands); you guys couldn't get on the server and I was like: whoa man?! What y'all talkin' 'bout?! My friends are on almost evrey day!
So I went to check my Apache webserver configuration files... and everything was fine! Next I checked if it could've been my firewall... that was not the problem either! Suddenly a lightbulb started burning over my head and I figured it might be my broadband service provider... Could've guessed it; according to their policy running a webserver on your own computer is considered business usage of the broadband account and they were the ones blocking you guys from getting on!!
Now I know what you're thinking: but how did his friends get on every day? Well, almost all my friends and I share the same service provider and somehow they weren't bounced!
I am so terribly sorry that I can't have you guys on the site; I worked really hard on it and now that I'm done I get to shut it down almost immediatly... sniff...
Ow well, I still have my FTP server program running so direct downloads are still available; luckily they don't block off that.
On to another subject. My father owns a Interior Designing shop, but he's on a business trip to South America and I have to work like 24/7 in the shop now! It's just me and my uncle now. We sell stuff all day and deliver in the evening. I haven't been home before 8 'o clock this whole week! My back aches like hell...
He went to South America because he wants to start a factory over there and this is the funny part; he SAYS that I will run it!! He never asked me, he just said! I mean; what's up with that?!
I don't think I could manage; maybe for a half year or so, but not forever! My life is here, in The Netherlands, in Europe. This is where my friends and family are. I don't wanna be over 8000km away from them...
Yesterday when I was loading the van with stuff we had to deliver someone got hit by a tram. If you don't know what a tram is; it's a sort of a subway, but on the surface, not underground. I was on of the first people on the scene and I called an ambulance. It was sad but in a way I was fascinated. The poor guy was K.O.'ed and his leg was like broken in three or four places and was all twisted. I also kept some enthousiastic people from dragging him from under the tram; by doing so you could make injuries go from bad to worse. This was actually the second time within a year this happened at the same spot in front of our store and right in front of me! What are the odds...

Screw that - I don't need a site on angelfire! I thought about it and I'm doing this my way. It's gonna be my site and I want full control over it! So, what I've been doing the past few days was setting my computer up as a webserver and I'm serving my site myself now, from my own PC! No ads, no pop-ups, nothing! It's not online yet, because I'm still designing, but that's just a matter of time and hard work. This way I also don't have to pay or anything for space - I simply use the space on my harddisk to host the amv's! If everything turns out well I'll get a cheap comp just for server purpose. I use my workstation as server now, and I don't want it to be on 24/7.
I'll keep ya'll up to date on this thing, because if it works out, it will be good for everyone!
