Last video? Or, just the first video...?
2006-10-25 13:44:00
Well, my video didn't really premiere at the convention. They had so many entries, they had to filter out about 80% of the submissions. Unfortunately, my video was one of the 80%... I was a bit disappointed at first, and a bit angry... The contest was why I had finished the video, and it wasn't even shown... But I decided that I liked my video, even if they decided not to show it. I was happy with my video, and glad that I was finally able to complete it- so forget about the contest.
Then I uploaded the AMV here and it has recieved quite a bit of praise. Other people have been able to enjoy it, so that has made the experience even more rewarding. I was questioning whether I would begin work on another AMV or not... It was a bit of work just so I could enjoy a five minute video. But someone said that they would be looking forward to my next video, and I don't feel that I can let them down. It it's for others, as well as my self, I can make another video. But I'll need some inspiration first- that was the whole reason my first video was any good to begin with. I'll be thinking about it...

Finally finished!
2006-10-07 21:05:55
Wow... it's been a year and a half since my last entry. Well, I'm pleased to announce my video is finally complete. After letting it sit for that year and a half, I finally resumed work when I learned of an AMV contest at an anime convention I'll be going to this year. It seemed like it would take forever in the beginning, but now that it's over, it really wasn't that long. I let it sit for over a year and then finished in a few days work.
My video will premiere at the convention on October 21, 2006. After that, I'll upload it here, so more people can enjoy it ^_^

New (and first) AMV under way
2005-04-17 03:44:37
Well, I started making my first AMV yesterday, and continued it today. It's so EXCITING!!! ^_^ The song is "Kiss From a Rose" by Seal. The anime is Kare Kano. I spent I don't know how many hours analyzing the song. I've listened to song so many times by now- but I'm not getting tired of it. It's a song I've liked for a very long time. Anyway, I started making video footage today, and the second clip I put in completely clicked, and it was just sooo amazing! I'm excited to work on it some more tommorrow, but...
Stupid half-blend interlacing!!! I'd really like to edit progressive footage, but because the way Kare Kano is interlaced, the interlacing algorithms can't do much to fix it. At first, I thought I would just leave it alone, and create my video with interlaced footage. Then I could deinterlace my source file to see if it would make the end video better or worse. But then I realized that deinterlacing changes the amount of frames, and pretty much all the AVIsynth filters require frame numbers... So, if I go back and deinterlace my source file, it will screw up the timing of all the filters I've put in place (I'm doing all video editing in VirtualDubMod, using AVIsynth filters)... What to do, what to do... I'm thinking about deinterlacing the source, and outputting it to an actual file, and then using that file as my source file to run filters on. But, it would take more disk space... hmmm... And it wouldn't easily be undo-able... Oh, crap! Stupid interlacing! ...all the same, that's what I think I'll do... or maybe I'll just leave the video interlaced. I plan on only using Kare Kano, so I don't really need to worry about other field orders (not that the solution to that isn't easy enough)- well, I assume they all have a bottom field order... but it'll give those lines during motion areas... *perks up* But it's usually a pretty slow-paced show! *get's depressed again* but I'll need at least some fast scenes... I guess my problem is that I don't want to have to worry about each clip individually... *lightbulb turns on* oh, hey! I can deinterlace each clip that is derived by triming the source individually, instead of simply deinterlacing the source. That way, for each clip I can easily go back and change how each clip is deinterlaced, or if it's even deinterlaced at all. Before, I was thinking that I would have to make an output file of each clip after I deinterlace it the way that works best for that clip, and then add all my progressive clips together later- but I don't have to do that. Ok, I think I'm set. I just have one concern... Do deinterlacing filters always change the same clip the same way they did on previous executions? I think (and hope) so...
Well, most of that probably sounds like jibberish, but I understand it. A few days ago, I would've been like "What?!" I sure have learned a lot about digital video properties the last few days... It's been fun! ^_^
