  • LEGALIZE Your Anime: WTF? 2006-05-26 14:35:04 Some time now you have probably seen my new sig: "DAGSP, Inc. remainds you to always LEGALIZE your anime." Now some people have been asking me WTF?

Well, simply put, I buy my anime and then rip it on my piece o' junk (the nickname I gave my computer, although it is a 2003 model). No questions asked.

  • New AMV Idea! 2006-05-12 11:03:10 Hi there! I just wanted to let you know that I am in the process of buying DVDs for my latest compsosition. Which I promise is like anything you will ever see! Please come back to the Journal for more updates.
  • Learn From Your Mistakes 2006-05-08 16:13:23 It is always a good idea, newbie or veteran, to learn from your mistakes. It will help you become a sucessful creator.

The greatest example of this is my first video, "USA: The Introduction." If you can look at it, most of it I complied through ripped episodes, but it has been a long time since I last checked in on them, and the quality was so poor, you can look at it backwards. The other flaws were:

    1. a copyright notice at the end
    2. wrong music with right anime.

So, be sure to look at my video and learn from it. Soon I will create a new version that will even surprise me! Until then, be sure to learn a lesson from my mediocre video.

This is not a smypathy plea,
    R.G. Davis

    P.S. Please Legalize your anime!!!
  • Ethical Does't Have to Suck 2006-05-08 15:57:31 While looking at the "Site Announcements" page at the Forum, I made a discovery.
It is this: that most newbies don't have the budget to buy their own DVDs and used pirated material, or would I like to call "Luffinated material:" (After Luffy of One Piece) One example is downloaded fansubs from peer-to-peer programs. These, honestly do not work most of the time, and the video must be in high quailty. But if you must go around using fansubs, at least make sure that it has been ripped.

I would just like to say a few words to all new guys and gals that are surfing this site and are interested in making an anime music video. There are some guidelines that you must follow. I think this is clearly brought out in Phade's Code of Ethics, but I would just like to summerize on them. First, you shall be honest in your opinions about another person's AMV, or the opinions you get about your own. Secondly, you will NOT use any sort of data, anime episodes or music, obtained illegally. It seems as though anyone could slop some anime and music together and make it look like nothing, but it takes a true creative genius to decide which anime should heshe uses, and the music obtanied from a CD and make it look like something. The bottom line: Anime and music you get from illegal sources will only discredit your own rep. And don't pin this on me; I was given this chance to do what I like.

As for advice, I can only say this; Use What You Can (UWYC) I know it is a little hard to explain, but in my next post, I will show you how to pratice UWYC. So long for now!
