A dramatic AMV should tell a story. It should pull you in, and give you something for watching, regardless to if you've ever seen the anime being used. For the better part of my AMVs my audience were people who had never seen anime, so I needed to get across a different way. It's about feeling, and story. That's what I strive for. You won't find my video's weighed down by effects. The ones I do add will be to add fuction, and are usually subtle. No waveforms. No flying objects. Nothing added just to make you go 'oo..pretty'.
The only time you will see one scene that doesn't comfortably move into the other in my AMVs, is when I failed, and it happens at least once per video, because it's just about impossible unless you create your own content. I dislike it when people take a bunch of clip and put em end to end. More than anything, I'm going for the 'shiver' factor. When the music and the video and the feeling all collide and you get a rush. I live for that rush, and I hope you do too. --Dark
BACKGROUND/EQUIPMENT:
Started video editing about 6 years ago, with a couple of umatic 1/4 decks, then learned the wonder of non-liner editing. The first music video I did was for my graphics class in highschool, that was almost 5 years ago (gak). Big suprise, it was to Evangelion. One girl who watched actually started to cry, and I thought, "Man... I can make something that has THIS kind of effect on people?!" and I was hooked after that. for 5 years, you'll noticed that I don't have very many vids (about 5, oddly enough). They are far apart, but I pour my heart and soul into each one. I feel like I loose something everytime someone gets a lot of attention when they do a flashy clip AMV with a ton of effects.. Hmm this is turning back into my creed.. moving on ^_^
My setup consists of a Dazzle DV bridge, Firewire card, and Premiere 6.1. My copy has half a gig of ram running at 266, and a 2.6 AMD. 160 gigs of space. I also use flash a bit, like for my opening, and I'd love to learn After Effects, to give me a bit more flexability. While I don't like 'effects', I do like layering, so it would come in handy.
NEWS:
www.darkclash.net is ONLINE! (HUZZAH). It's incomplete at the moment (Aug7 03) but it will soon host all my vids.. Stay tuned! :3 -- Dark
