Looking for Anime suggestions
I am a huge fan of dot-hack (Hack Sign) and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for other series. As far as Hack Sign, some of the qualities that I liked about it and would be looking for in other series, include the intelligence of it all, you had to really pay attention to the little things they say and the flashbacks to really get it. It was deep and mysterious about quite a few things. Visually it was amazing, not just in character design (we've all seen better) but the whole look to it. It was almost psychedelic. Aura (the little girl) and Maho (the cat) were both very mysterious characters. I also liked how it wasn't perverted (I think Hentai's really silly) but romantic, but not so much it was the whole point. Also, the music made a great Anime excellent. It's like the Final Fantasy music but much better. I have OST (Original Sound Track) 1 and 2 both, and the Hack Extra which is like remixes, and I listen to the three of them every day (though not every song).
Also, this next question should be in General Music but I don't want to make a new topic - but can anyone reccomend any Anime soundtracks that sound like the Hack Sign soundtracks? I don't care if the Anime itself sucks, but if it's got that majestic classical/new age/techno/sensual vocal sound like in the songs "The World," "Key of the Twilight," "Aura," "Open Your Heart," and others, I wanna know about it.

While I have no interest in .hack//sign or anything in the franchise, you may like these other shows:
Noir (same teams for everything, I couldn't stand this one)
Aquarian Age (same music composer, great storytelling and characters)
Legend of the Galactic Heroes (Older title, not the best art, but all of the music is classical (real classical, like Bach) and the storytelling is top notch.)
Gasaraki (lots of little things to watch for, not the best music, but Ryousuke Takahashi is a frickin genius when it comes to expanding the giant robot genre)
Brigadoo: Marin and Melan (From the GaoGaiGar team, EXCELLENT soundtrack, sort of a japanese take on celtic music).
Good luck with your anime search!

Check out Noir, it was created by the same Anime Company (Bee-Train) And also features the same musical composer. (Yuki Kajiura, also part of the See-Saw group) Pretty much most See-Saw songs have a Yuki Kajiura quality to them. The ending song for Gundam Seed anna ni issho datta no ni is a good one I think. Obviously the songs from the other .hack anime also have a similar feel and sound.

I loved the series .hack//sign as well..that's why I'm TRYING to fit .hack//Luminality in while watching some Great Teacher Onizuka ^_^,lol..great anime by the way, hehe. The soundtrack to Noir is about as close as you're gettin' to quality with .hack//sign's OSTs,cause they were made by the same people (Bee Train),so they have kinda like the same music as well =D.Well,I hoped ya out some, and if ya haven't seen Noir yet, then you need to,cause that's also a great anime ^_^.

well...except for the whole killing thing with Kirika ^_^.Cause Tsukasa doesn't kill ANYTHING in the series (unless you refer to the part where the guardian came out,but that still doesn't mean HE killed him *in the game*/her *real world...referring to the scarlet knight of course -_-) .so I was just wondering, what were you referring to when you said Kirika is kinda like Tsukasa's PC?I knew you meant player character, but did you mean like, the whole thing about not being able to die?Just curious

I really hate Hack sign so anything I suggest wont interest you but here are some of my favs:
1. Onegai Teacher (funny and perverted, where the main characters actually . . . have sex (dun dun dun) its so unbelievable (sarcasm)
2. El Hazard (if you like alternate world stuff, this one works)
3. Vandread (nice scifi anime with great animations)
4. Hand Maid May (a funny maid based anime)
5. Martian Successor Nadesico: The Prince of Darkness (this is the movie, so dont watch it until you've watched the series)
6. Strawberry Eggs (I, My, Me) (A wierd storyline, kinda reminds me of Mrs. Doubtfire situation *sings to self* Dude looks like a lady!
7. Hellsing (Action packed with an interesting storyline)
There are many more but like I said, I dont like hack sign so you probably dont like the ones I like.

If you liked .hack (I like it but haven't seen all of it), try Serial Experiments Lain, it has some similar themes to .hack but Lain is way more fucked up fun
