How do I submit my entry online? I filled out the form, but I can't find the "submit" button.
The link on this forum post is for panels, if you're trying to submit an amv entry to be shown during the theater the form is here- http://vicbond007.net/otakon2024_subform/
I filled out the form already, but how do I submit it?
I checked the form, and the there's a "submit form" button at the bottom the page.

Submitted it. Before I tried using my computer, but the 'submit' button didn't appear, but it appeared when I used my phone. Weird.
Silent. Heroic. But never both.

Whoops. We've received so many contest entries so far, I didn't realize that I didn't come back to this thread to update it with a link to the AMV Contest Submission rules. Luckily Erik keeps me honest. OP is updated.

In regards to panels, we received over 800 submissions. We grabbed a few for AMV Theater, but it could be a while before those confirmations go out, as we still need to coordinate with the other 6 or 7 panel rooms.

We're also going to be running the AMV Contest 4 times (twice Friday, twice Saturday, all with voting) to see what that does to the lines. Hopefully if enough people show up Friday morning, that will give everyone else a little breathing room, but this does cut into panel time (as well as some other lengthy surprises :awesome: coming soon).

I have a question about on-screen text.
The rules mention studio/website logos and non-original subtitles as things that will DQ you, but what about credits (without logos) that are part of the original anime footage? For example, if the AMV contains shots from the very start of an episode where the project name and key staff names appear on screen over the footage.
I've seen different contests have different stances on this so I'm just seeking some clarification before I attempt to censor the text.
This IS allowed. In this day and age, where physical releases with bonus features (creditless OP/ENDINGS) are becoming harder and harder to come by, sometimes that great shot just also happens to have the art director's name slapped on top of it.

While this won't get you DQ'd, you ARE fighting an uphill battle to make finals, as said scenes tend to still be distracting.

Ty for the update. Tbh would probably be even more distracting if I had to censor them (obvious bars instead of small text). XD

Also the first round of confirmations went out. If you sent us a video prior to 9:00pm EST June 21 and didn't receive an E-mail, check your spam because they are automated.

Krigen (resident Little Mermaid Editor) and I have officially done our last second submissions.

This is a particularly weird year. Both of us started videos and ended up switching projects when it became apparent that neither would be done on time (mine was an idea I had over 10 years ago). Krigen got her hands on a remastered Blu-ray of HCA-TLM (and was totally gonna remaster one of her past videos but edited something new instead over a few weeks), and I fired up an old project from a certain Otakons past that was never truly finished (and also the only AMV I never finished the whole song for). I shot by shot replaced every source from SD to HD that was possible, added new effects, remastered old ones, and finished the freaking thing! I have ZERO expectations of making finals with this one, but it needed Needed NEEDED to get out of my system. I just can't leave things unfinished, even 8 years later. Must be pathological.

My PC, "Galactica" (aka the beast) is on its last legs, and this is likely the final AMV adventure I will take it on (kinda bittersweet, but a perfect tribute to this milestone). It's served faithfully for 12 years, but it struggled with this last project. More frequent crashes, hardware bloat, old codec confusion, memory leaks, etc. just these last two years, my monitor, mouse, and keyboard have all died. I will spend the next few months backing up/cataloging the many external hard drives I have into my NAS, wiping old data and start building a new PC. I'll definitely try to repurpose her in some way, but her editing days are done.

('-')7 Semper Fi, old soldier. and thank you for making the last 12 years of editing possible.

By end of this year, I will have a brand new desktop to start some kickass new projects fresh. Waiting on some parts to be released/price drop, but the case has already been bought.

Also plan on upscaling a few *different* videos from past Otakons that never got uploaded and putting it online for the sake of closure. Gonna be trying to make a lot of things like that happen this year. Last year brought some pretty significant life changes (mostly positive!) so I'm feeling like it's time to close the book to open the door to new things. I've got many ambitious fires in the works and I wanna make them all!

I may also be able to convince Krigen to remaster some of her older videos in HD (not just the 4 little mermaid ones, now that some sources have been remastered on Blu Ray for the first time). We'll see.
