Oh, yeah, forgot to mention.

Tenchi got me into anime too. Tenchi Universe that is, however, after watching the OVA I knew that I would love anime forever.

Ranma has the same effect. 8)

If you liked Ah Megami-sama, Fushigi Yuugi, and Escaflowne, you might want to try Ayashi no Ceres (same creator as Fushigi Yuugi). I'd also recommend Kimagure Orange Road (closer to Ah Megami-sama in style). Escaflowne is kinda unique.
