A Legacy?

Post by OmniStrata » Wed Jan 21, 2004 10:13 am

Little question...

Do any of you want to be "remembered" for your videos? [when you've long gone? lol]

I do, just a little... [the ID, it calls to me...]

If you had just one video(s) that you could be remembered for, what would it be?
"Strength lies in action. Let the weak react to me..." - Kamahl, Pit Fighter from Magic: the Gathering
"That is a mistake many of my enemies make. They think before they act. I act before I think!" - Vortigern from Merlin ('98)
"I AM REBORN!" - Dark Schneider Bastard!! OAV

I'll Never be the One that she Needs (first DL-able vid, ops appreciated)

I haven't made it yet... and I think that's the way it should be for most. Keeps us from being satisfied with what we've done =)

What is it Vlad always says, something about "the video that will be played at your funeral?"

Yep, because it's rare, funny, and aimed at an underused genre in amvs.
"Yep... that was some gay dude... Zarxrax was his name..." thats what they will all say :(
They will not. ;p One look at your profile and the most they'd say is - see, even a non-yaoi fan can make a vid that's fun for the genre. Cool.

As for the discussion, no, probably not. If I'm ever remembered for something after I stop doing that thing - it would be writing. Unless this website lasts as long as my website and fanfiction archives do, I won't be known well enough to be remembered. I don't advertise anywhere but here and my website, I don't model my vids for anyone but my friends, and the ones who stumble onto my work tend to do it by accident, or necessity (mainly my romance vids being the only ones for those pairings). And then there's the fact that I don't want to be known except by those who share similar interests. The rest can go on never knowing who I am and I'll be thankful for it - because I aim to please myself first, then my friends. I'd have to be concerned about pleasing masses if I want to be well-known. And I'll never be as good at editing as I am at conceptualizing and storytelling, so that would kill the enjoyment for me - it would be a chore rather than a fun pastime.

I'm content with my fiction, vids are a sidenote. The only ones I plan to be 'remembered' for are the ones that go along with some of my fics. I still view my amvs as a chance to illustrate stories (since I'm not good enough at drawing to do it manually). I want to be remembered for my stories - I won't get that in an amv community where emphasis is on editing/effects more than storytelling/emotion.

I know that, and I don't mind. ^_^

In 50 years, I'm gonna look back on AMVs and be like...

Yep...

Good times...
