Like your own vids?

Post by TekkaRepliroid Zero » Fri Jan 23, 2004 10:52 am

What's your opinion of your own vids?

You hear people put their own vids down and such here around .org, so I find myself wondering why did they leave them as such if they think their vids suck in that condition? Maybe it's just the perfectionist virgo that I am, but don't these people have any pride in their work?

Is one an egotistical ass for liking their own vids? It's happened on rare occasion here on .org. I like my own vids, even my first two, although they aren't anything phenomincal editing wise - I still watch them once in a while. There are videos that I of course think are better.

Yet I still find it a faux-pas to put my own vids in my own fav vids list. Somewhat hypocritical, maybe.

Anyway, thoughts on this?

My own vids are my favorite vids because I make exactly what I want to see, with the songs I love.

I think if you ask any decent creator they'll tell you they enjoy their vids a whole lot and watch them often. That sort of goes with the terrortory if you create something your proud of.

And I'll never put something of my own in my top-10 favorite lists. I use that list to spread the good word about videos I enjoy. Since someone could only see that list by looking at my profile, I think its kind of lame to take up spots in that space for videos they could find by scrolling down 3 clicks.

But thats just me.

If you don't like your own work you can't expect anyone else to.

I love my videos, they rock :)

I have a sort of love/hate thing going on with my own videos. Sometimes I view one and think, oh, God, that's horrible, and I have to resist the urge to purge it from my disk. Sometimes I view my own work and think, hey, you know, this is really pretty darn good, notwithstanding what those Philistines on the org say...

I like the music I use for my vids, hence I enjoy them. :D

I hate one of my videos so much that I refuse to acknowledge its existence (aside from giving it a catalog entry), therefore it will not be included in the count below.

I don't particularly like my first video, partially because it makes it obvious just how much of a technical newbie I was when I made it (and now, because it's apparently DQ'ed me from the rookie category of the VCAs :( ). Also, the editing is kinda blah. But I do like the song (mixed it myself with stolen sound bytes).

My second video also makes it obvious that I hadn't completely Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides by the time I'd made it. However, as far as the actual editing is concerned, I don't think I'd have done anything differently.

I will admit that I really like watching my third video, and it was a lot of fun to make besides. Ditto with the fourth. However, I don't know how much of it is "this is a fun video" and how much of it is "hey cool, I made this!"...

I'm beginning to think I talk too much on these forums.

I like mine simply because it's was my idea and I pulled it off. I like seeing my ideas work.

I admit I get very frustrated at times because I use WMM so the AMVs never look exactly as I picture them. However I can't complain much. At least I CAN make them.

But there are a few moments when I'll just sit back, watch and go "Yeah.....that looks good." :)

I'm also proud of the two banners I made that got voted worthy and now show up on the site and random times....especially the Strong Bad one. I know that it's not the same as an AMV but I'm still proud of it. :P

Mine suck. But you knew that.

Well, except the era tunnel (omg plug! :o) . I still like to watch that sequence over and over. Not sure why.

I'm kind of a hardass on myself...I like the work, but I still try to find areas which could stand to be improved
