Wow.... (Grave of the Fireflies)
I just finished watching Grave Of The Fireflies in my Japanese class. Has anyone else seen this? It's gotta be the most depressing anime I have ever seen. The ending just made me wanna lock myself in my room and just break down. It was SO sad. And, being a guy, I normally don't say stuff like that.

I honestly don't know since the anime club played it subtitled.*inverse* wrote:I've really been wanting to see this movie - is the english dub as good as the original?
But given the caliber of the entire movie, Central Park Media wouldn't even DARE skimp on the dub (unlike their other releases), so I believe the dub is a success.

I have seen both the sub version as well as the English dub which was surprisingly very good. I must admit that this was the single most disturbing and depressing thing I have every seen. I went full circle through the emotions of extreme anger and sadness. I now understand much more than I ever wanted to about war and its after effects which seem to always hurt the innocent much more than the ones who start the bloody wars themselves. I regret any child having to suffer this way and anyone who has to watch a child suffer like that. My distaste for the human race in general, and all the evil caused by it was both justified and increased by watching this.
"Light in the absence of eyes illuminates nothing. Visible forms are not inherent in the world but are granted by the act of seeing. Events contain no meaning in themselves only the meaning that the mind imposes on them...yet the world endures,...whether or not the mind exists..."
