Best Sentimental: "FLC AL" by Aquiline Studios (Cyanna)
Paul Simon "Call Me Al" / FLCL
Wow! Certainly unexpected but wow! Whoever was responsible for that, thanks so much! :)

Congratulations to all the winners and I hope everyone who went to the con had a good time. ^_^
I don't know if Scintilla told you about what happened when I saw your video again on Sunday morning in the VAT room.....

I remember your video when it first premiered on the .Org, and I downloaded it and thoroughly enjoyed it. I went, "THIS is the video that should be shown on VH1 when they play it, just once, THIS version, not the Paul Simon/Chevy Chase version." I really enjoyed it.

The week leading up to AWA I decided to watch FLCL all over again. Again through all the funny silliness the series is known for, I once again caught the wonderful coming-of-age story that's behind all the fun stuff. I really enjoyed it also. It reminded me that there's much more excellent anime titles out there besides FMA and Bebop.

I was ecstatic when I found out your video took Best Sentimental at Expo, and I even did a phone post in my LJ, complete with the applause you got at the end of your video. I was so happy to see a winning video I personally enjoyed watching before it "officially" became recognized.

And on Sunday morning when the VAT staff re-ran your video, I watched it again, and smiled through it.... and then suddenly, I started tearing up in joy. I have never felt so overcome with such happy emotion before. I really REALLY liked this FLCL video, even more so than "Shameless Rock Video" (sorry Ian).

OK, so I'm a sap. But it's all good. Your accolades are very much well deserved, Cyanna. Congratulations congratulations congratulations!

My "coup de coeur" goes this year for Vlad's James Bond video. good job on it ;).

I'm sorry i could'nt come to the convention on this year. But i'm planning to come on the next event :), depending on my thesis scheduling.

Congrats to Cyanna and Icy Cloud.

Don't recognize any other names from the winners. But "Chihuahua" was awesome and I did find it here.

Well, you're half right- I actually had the call on what videos we were showing so that Omar & Vic could handle any technical or other issues that came up so that the actual running of the event wouldn't be distrupted. And yes, I wanted to show it because it hadn't been shown in the Pro screening and knew it would be well received (and there were several people yelling that they wanted to see it). I had initially ruled out showing Lee's 'Explosivo' vid as well (due to the bong scene at the beginning), but with having already given the disclaimer and showed AMV Hell 2 and Nigel's bringing up Tenatious D while talking I figured there wasn't much to lose and it was a pretty good segway into a video, IMO.

I did give disclaimers to give fair warning to the audience about them, since I was aware that there might have potentially been parents with younger children in the audience- but I didn't notice anyone making a move to get up and leave after the warnings either.

lol I was actually very surprised to see my video played during the Iron Chef, but it was great to see it on a big screen in front of a huge audience ^^

i saw a vid there that really nearly made me cry, i forgot the name and title and everything but it was a really sad video and it was pretty much just people getting shot, like men against the government, people in big army suits just shooting towns people, does anybody know who it's by and what it's called?

Cry? Wow.

Thank you for the compliment. I'm really glad you enjoyed it. And thanks a lot for that phone post! :)

I'm just thrilled in general with how it did over the summer. Between Otakon and now AWA, I've had my fair share of surprises.

I bet that was the one about 9/11.
That one almost made me cry, too.

I'm also looking for a few videos.. Sorry for my vague descriptions.. If people had bumpers this would SOLVE EVERYTHING.

The FF9 Video (I'm 99% sure there was only one)
The Sasuke character profile video that was frankly THE BEST Naruto video I've ever seen (I liked it more than "I walk alone", and felt it should've won.. Sorry meri =p)

And the "You'll be in my heart" AMV, with that song from Tarzan. I think they used the anime Air, but I totally forgot. It might've been various anime.

Oh, and the Animatrix AMV- it used all the anime from Animatrix, so maybe that sets it apart from the other Animatrix vids, I don't know.

Yeah, my descriptions suck, but that's all the info I have. X|

By the way- How did my video win Best Drama? In the back of my mind I can't stop thinking that it was a pity award. I mean, I honestly don't see the video as that great, and the audience didn't seem to like it too much either.
I mean this in no offense, I'm just really.. Really.. Curious. 0o

Heheh, 's OK. :D I'm assuming you're referring to silver_moon's video "Shackled", which I agree is one of the best Naruto videos ever made, and deserve lots o' love.
